Islamabad: Fencing work on the Malpur Forest land was reinitiated on Tuesday after being halted for one week, a news source reported. According to the publication, the initiative to restart the work being conducted in the area was taken by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) — in order to prevent the land from being encroached and illegally possessed.

Work on the project had been paused for about a week due to the blockages of traffic in the area; however this work has now been resumed. The CDA plans to fence 7.75 kilometres of forest area, out of which work on 5.75 kilometres has already been completed. The remaining work is expected to be completed very soon.

As per reports, concrete pillars are being used to fix the steel fences so that the forest land can be safeguarded against encroachers and protected against illegal occupation. Additionally, this initiative will have the added benefit of preserving the greenery in the area, and help in the fight against climate change.
