Islamabad: Federal Minister for Housing and Works Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema has announced the federal government’s decision to launch seven new housing projects worth PKR 100 billion, a news source reported. As per the publication, the minister stated that these initiatives were planned to provide low-cost houses for the benefit of underprivileged citizens and to enhance economic activity in the housing sector.

The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) is expected to oversee the development of six projects, while the Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) will supervise the progress of the remaining project. Minister Cheema stated that the federal government was trying to make affordable housing possible for government employees, and would even provide them with financial assistance with the help of the banks.

Previously, the FGEHA had received 8,000 applications in February for the 12,000 apartments which the authority had constructed in various parts of the country. Reportedly the FGEHA completed the construction of its apartments in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, which are located in Rawalpindi Skyline Apartments, Bedian Road Scheme, and New Airport Scheme.
