Islamabad: The federal government has decided to launch an awareness campaign on tax compliance as a part of its efforts to expand the tax net and the plans for the campaign are being prepared under the instructions of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan – a news source reported on November 7.
According to the details, the PM was briefed on efforts made by the revenue authorities to widen the tax net by his Special Assistance on Revenue Dr Waqar Masood. Dr Masood also informed the PM of the details of the awareness campaign on the tax responsibilities of the individuals. He revealed that special messages will be disseminated to the public as a part of the campaign.
Previously, PM Khan had issued instructions to the taxation authorities to digitize the taxation setup in the country and at the same time remove all unnecessary withholding taxes in order to rationalise the system.
