Islamabad: The federal government has formed a special team for the supervision of the Safe City project in the federal capital, according to a news report. Under the project, 1,500 cameras had been installed in the city under the project and has been operating under National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA). Some police officials have expressed views that the project should operate under police to improve policing in the city.
The project monitors around 150 police check posts throughout the city while police and ranger personnel patrol and man these check posts. Officials from Equal Squad and Rescue 15 also patrol the areas.
Islamabad Police Inspector General (IG) Aamir Zulfiqar Khan took notice of the rising the crime in the capital’s rural areas. A high-level meeting chaired by the IG was held to review the state of crime in these areas. The IG took notice of the rise in crime rate and action was taken against police officials responsible. Khan also stressed the need to work on the reduction of all sorts of crime.
