Lahore: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday (September 15) said that the federal government will disburse funding to complete development work in Punjab’s nine Special Economic Zones (SEZ), according to news sources.
The funds will be released and utilised by the provincial government to ease the concerns of the foreign investors. The decision was made during a one-on-one meeting with Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar.

In its yearly Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), the federal government has earmarked development funds for the early completion of SEZs. The Punjab administration has asked that the funds be provided as soon as possible so that the state may begin work on building grid stations, laying electricity lines, and installing gas pipelines.
The premier also ordered the province administration to prioritise Sheikhupura and Faisalabad SEZ projects established under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in order to enjoy the advantages.

PM Khan also emphasised the need of developing projects for Lahore and stated that it should be transformed into an ideal metropolis. He also instructed city officials to prioritise road repairs and initiatives aimed at transforming the city into a city of gardens. Members and representatives of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) also shared updates on current and planned beautification and development initiatives in the city.
