According to sources, the decision was taken at a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office on Friday and attended by senior government officers and CDA Chairman Mohammad Usman Younis. The commission will update the current regulations of Zone-III which currently is not regulated by the CDA. The proposed commission will be supervised by the federal government and will consist of experts, including environmentalists, who will be responsible for making the changes.
It was also proposed that old villages located in Margalla Hills should be preserved and no further development work should take place there. The villagers will be provided civic facilities and if they want to sell their land, the CDA will procure it for preservation. Similarly, areas such as Kot Hatyal and Bhara Kahu will be added to Zone-IV with the addition of a new sub-zone of 5, while the area along Murree Road near Rawal Dam Chowk will also be made part of Zone-IV.

It is important to mention that Zone-III, encompassing an area of roughly 50,000 acres, is located between the Margalla Hills national park and privately-owned land. Of these 50,000 acres, around 20,000 acres are privately owned, and the civic agency has no authority in this region.
