Islamabad: The federal cabinet on Tuesday (August 17) decided to regularise unapproved/irregular housing schemes in different zones of Islamabad including Zone-II, IV, and V, according to news story published on August 27.

The cabinet meeting in this regard was held on August 17. During the meeting, setting up a committee to advise and develop an effective policy for regularization of unapproved housing scheme was proposed. The proposed committee would comprise of members from the Federal Commission for Revision of Master Plan of Islamabad. Other members will include CDA members/Secretary, Planning Vice Chairman, Planner/Architect Sikandar Ajam, Architect Murad Jamil, DG/DDG Planning, and other relevant officials.
As per details shared by the Ministry of Interior, Capital Development Authority (CDA) will provide requisite funds as well as logistical support and staff for the proper functioning of the Commission. Moreover, the commission will advise the authority in regard to the regularisation of unapproved housing schemes. It was disclosed that the members of the commission will get paid from the CDA’s financial budgetary outlay.

It is pertinent to mention here that a commission was formed by the Federal Cabinet for reviewing the Master Plan of Islamabad.
