Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has prepared a feasibility study to shift the city’s cables underground to cover an area spanning up to 150 kilometres, a news source quoted Karachi Mayor Waseen Akhtar as saying. As per the mayor, this initiative is pivotal to the city’s beautification process currently underway.

He shared this information during a meeting held with members of the Cable Operators Association and Telecom Operators.
Akhtar mentioned that the feasibility study prepared by the MCK suggested that the process to shift the cables underground could commence in areas spanning 150 kilometres. To facilitate this measure, the mayor sought cooperation from the city’s cable operators.

In response, the members assured they would cooperate with the government on this front and said that they needed to complete their homework to make the final decisions. Reportedly, the cable operators also agreed that they would be willing to bear the expenses for this project.
