Lahore: The city administration has approved the initiation of feasibility study for three mega infrastructure projects which will be developed at an estimated cost of PKR 9 billion, according to a news source published on December 02.

Furthermore, it was announced that out of these underpass construction projects; the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will fund the construction of underpasses at Shahkam Chowk, Kareem Block and Wahdat Road – while the fourth Sheranwala Underpass will be constructed with the funds provided by the Punjab government.

Reportedly, these projects will be given final approval by Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar. However, initially, the city administration has asked LDA’s urban development wing to focus on three projects. Moreover, CM Buzdar has issued instructions for the construction of underpass on the Circular Road – estimated to cost PKR 3 billion. A 1.5-kilometre-long track will be constructed for this underpass or flyover which will start from Australia Mosque and end at Kashmiri Gate of Lahore. A total land of 35 kanals is to be acquired for the dual carriageway that will be completed in 8 months. For the aforementioned underpasses at Shahkam Chowk, Kareem Block and Wahdat Road, LDA will need to redesign the infrastructure and acquire land.
