Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood has directed the officials concerned to prepare estimates and feasibility report on the Murree Mall Road 2 project, a news source reported on November 6.
The project is meant to promote commercial activities and tourism in the hill station. To this effect, Commissioner Mehmood held a meeting on Thursday (November 5) to discuss project details and scope. The proposed Commercial Corridor, also referred to as Mall Road 2, is planned to be developed by bringing private partners onboard under a private-public partnership module.

Reportedly, the commissioner has also received a briefing on the proposed location, which according to news sources, will be in Mouza Adwari and Mouza Rakh Alif Charhan. These mouzes are located along the Murree Expressway.
Addressing the meeting, the commissioner said that the existing facilities in Murree are increasingly falling short for the 70.5 million tourists who annually visit the resort town. The planned project will promote local as well as international tourism and create countless employment opportunities. The Murree Mall Road 2 will be 1.3 kilometre long in length.

To proceed with related developments and launch the project at the earliest, the commissioner directed the officials concerned to share their findings on estimates cost and related factors as soon as possible.
