Faisalabad: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) on Thursday announced its decision to establish a special ‘Khidmat Markaz’ in a bid to facilitate the approvals for private residential societies by expediting the departmental process, according to news sources. The civic agency took the decision after receiving directives from the Punjab government.

The establishment of the said Markaz was announced by the FDA Director General (DG) Muhammad Suhail Khawaja while presiding over a meeting. He said that the orders for establishment of this facility were given to all provincial development authorities by the Punjab Housing secretary.
Moreover, Suhail highlighted that the ‘Khidmat Markaz’ is a revolutionary step initiated by the government to encourage the housing sector. It will be inter-connected with a web portal to allow applicants to check their application status online. He went on to say that a coordinated strategy will be followed to grant approval to the residential schemes and departments of environmental protection, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), irrigation and revenue, among others.

The FDA DG said that a 60-day time limit has been established for according housing societies’ approval after the submission of all required documentation. He said that the process of other related departments will also be streamlined and will be supervised directly by the Punjab government.
Furthermore, he directed the related officials to improve their performance for efficient and effective execution to meet the government’s and the public’s expectations – while also playing their role in promoting the housing sector.
