Faisalabad: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) recently closed five illegal housing societies and demolished illegal structures in various parts of the city, a news source reported. As per the publication, FDA Director-General (DG) Muhammad Suhail Khwaja issued the directive — with an FDA team later proceeding to confiscate equipment and machinery during the operation.

Director Estate Management Anam Sajid headed the enforcement team under the command of Estate Officer Imtiaz Goraya, and examined the legality of various housing schemes in different areas of the city. They found out that Azafi Abadi (Chak Number 202 RB), Azafi Abadi Gatti, Hussian Town, Alfajar Town, and Adan Valley had not been legally approved. The enforcement team also managed to seize the land allotted to public utility services at Syed Block and Usman Block during their crackdown.

The authorities asked the owners and developers of the illegal housing societies to seek proper legal measures and fulfil the terms and conditions for establishing a housing society. The director-general reiterated his commitment against illegal societies, and cautioned that the campaign would remain operational against those who violate the law.
