Faisalabad: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) recently launched a crackdown against illegal development practices in seven housing schemes in the city and retrieved 307 kanals of land originally reserved for the provision of utility services to the societies’ residents, a news source reported. As per the publication, the FDA Enforcement Team further sealed two additional housing schemes being developed without authority approval.

Reportedly, the developers of Nazimabad City, Lyallpur Garden, Canal Berg Society, Khalid Town and a few other housing schemes had been using plots marked for the construction of schools, parks, health facilities, and waste management for other purposes; prompting the FDA to proceed with retrieving these plots. The housing schemes that have been sealed by the development authority are located on Sargodha Road; Ismail City and Nawab City.

According to the information available, the crackdown was launched on the orders of FDA Director General Muhammad Sohail Khawaja. Commenting on the operation, Khawaja stated that the FDA had started the drive to retrieve amenity plots marked for public welfare and that it would not allow developers to use this land for other purposes.

He also announced that the authority would be keeping a constant check on these plots in order to ensure that the developers used them for their predetermined purposes.
