Faisalabad: The Faisalabad Development Authority’s (FDA) Enforcement Directorate has launched a crackdown to retrieve the land allocated for public utility services on the maps of the private housing societies under its jurisdiction, according to news sources. The FDA enforcement team executed this operation upon the directives of Director General (DG) FDA Muhammad Suhail Khawaja.

Under the operation, the FDA Enforcement Directorate retrieved 18-kanal land (initially allocated for public utility services) in various private housing schemes. The enforcement directorate took action to retrieve the land, initially earmarked for Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), waste management, health & education institutions, public parks, graveyards and other public utility services.

The FDA DG said that the plots, allocated to facilitate public interests, are an essential part of the rules and building regulations – which is why it is important for the developers of private housing schemes to get their layouts approved.
However, some builders were found using this land for other purposes. He reiterated that the FDA is resolved to ensure transparency and discipline in Town Planning and safeguard the rights of residents – regarding the provision of basic housing amenities.
