Lahore: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) on Friday demolished and sealed nine illegal housing societies located on Satiana Road as part of a grand anti-encroachment operation, a news source reported. During the proceedings, the police arrested 10 people found to be involved in the sale of illegal plots.

When asked for his comment, FDA Director General (DG) Suhail Khawaja stated that the authority had taken the action against several illegal societies situated in the area – adding that the FDA expected to recover up to PKR 300 million in fines and fee charges from the owners of these projects.

Further, the DG expressed his appreciation for Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Ali and Central Police Officer (CPO) Captain Suhail Chaudhry for providing their assistance during the operation. He added that the departments concerned had developed a comprehensive strategy for controlling the establishment of such projects, and that departmental action was currently underway without discrimination.

DG Khawaja also asked the owners of illegal and unapproved housing societies to get their projects approved by meeting all regulatory requirements on a priority basis – warning of strict legal action in cases of noncompliance.
