Islamabad: The Custom Region (North) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has registered growth in its custom duty collection for the tax year 2019-20 by making collections worth PKR 1,514 million during August, according to news sources. As per officials, the figure shows a 27% increase as compared with the last year’s figures (PKR 1,195 million collected in August 2018).
As per the data released by the FBR, the department collected PKR 1,377 million under sales tax; registering a 6% increase as compared with the last year’s PKR 1,300 million collected in the August 2018. With regards to the overall the tax collection, the Northern region collected PKR 3,738 million in August 2019; which reflects an increase of PKR 465 million (14%) as compared to the last year’s figures in the corresponding period.

The Custom Region (North) comprises four Collectorates; Model Custom Collectorates of Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (including merged tribes), Gilgit-Baltistan and MCC Appraisement and Preventive collectorate.
The Customs Region North also performed well on the law enforcement and anti-smuggling accounts and MCC (Islamabad) even exceeded its recovery target.

Chief Collector Customer (North) Dr Asif Mahmood expressed the confidence that the department would upkeep its performance efficiency and adhere to the austerity measures to put honest efforts towards the economic uplift of the country.
