Gujranwala: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to launch a crackdown against Gujranwala residents who do not file their income tax returns before tomorrow’s deadline, a news source reported. As per the authority’s figures, over 40% of the National Tax Number (NTN) holders in the city have still not filed their returns.

The FBR was looking to formulate an effective strategy to deal with the non-filers in Gujranwala, and now that it has devised a plan of action, it has begun to issue notices to non-filers within the city. To date, the FBR has issued an NTN to approximately 250,000 people in Gujranwala, of which less than 50% have filed their income tax returns. The rest failed to do so despite the government offering several extensions to the deadline.
