Karachi: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to hire foreign auditors to help reduce tax evasion and low payment of taxes, a news source reported. FBR officials believe that not only will this bring transparency to the taxation system, it will also help increase the revenue.
It is also expected that by increasing the number of auditors, the pace of work will increase and the number of pending cases will decrease. The decision was taken in view of the shortage of staff in FBR.
Under the amendments in Income Tax Ordinance 2001 and Finance Act 2018, now foreign auditors can now be hired.
