Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday (November 30) reported a collection of PKR 2.313 trillion during the first five months of the current fiscal year (FY-22), news sources reported.

The collected tax revenue exceeds the target amount of PKR 2.016 trillion by PKR 297 billion. According to the released figures, the revenue received is also 36.6 % higher than the same period last year. Similarly, the apex tax apparatus collected PKR 470 billion in November alone, which is 62 billion more than the set target of PKR 408 billion and 35% more than the same month last year. Advisor on Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin stated in a press release that the government amended the tax objectives upwards to PKR 6.1 trillion from PKR 5.829 trillion following November’s staff-level meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Furthermore, the data shows a greater income tax collection of PKR 761 billion versus the set objective of PKR 705 billion, as well as a higher customs collection of PKR 383 billion versus the set target of PKR 325 billion.
