Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will launch the ‘Tax Asan Portal’ next week, news sources reported on February 10. The portal will make it easy for non-filers to get registered by providing comprehensive information regarding moveable and non-movable properties, as well as tax liabilities already estimated for filers.

As per the reports, the FBR has accumulated information regarding non-filers assets and liabilities from a variety of sources. This information will be used to compute the individual’s owed taxes and will aid in increasing the tax net. According to the authorities, the following measures will be taken to implement the new system:
- All non-filers will receive SMS with the details to access the portal
- The user will then check the details available and verify their data and tax liabilities.
- The non-filers would be given time to voluntarily file returns and pay the due amount of taxes
- Failure to submit returns will result in the suspension of utility and mobile service until the sum is paid or the tax commissioner is satisfied with the explanation.
