Islamabad: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana announced during a post-budget press conference that the Point of Sale (POS) prize scheme is set for a relaunch, as reported on June 14.

According to the news details, the chairman highlighted that the scheme had been temporarily halted due to fraudulent activities but assured that safeguards are now in place. Currently, the POS account holds over PKR 1 billion. The inaugural computerised draw of the POS Prize Scheme took place on January 15, 2022, at FBR Headquarters in Islamabad. Transparently conducted, the draw awarded prizes totaling PKR 53 million, including a top prize of PKR. 1 million, two prizes of PKR 0.5 million each, four prizes of PKR 0.25 million each, and 1,000 prizes of PKR. 50,000 each. Eligible receipts from December 2021 were considered for this draw.

Winners were promptly notified via SMS, with Chairman FBR personally congratulating the PKR 1 million bumper prize winner by phone. Following adjustments for greater inclusivity, the scheme will resume from January 31, 2023. It will continue to award PKR. 53 million to 1,007 fortunate winners every 15th of the month through computerized draws.
