Gujranwala: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued notices to over 1,200 active businessmen in the city – in a bid to achieve its tax collection target for the current fiscal year (FY2018-19); a news source reported.

The federal institution has also sought details of properties and assets from these industrialists, traders, exporters, and importers. The latest crackdown comes as part of the government’s policy to widen the country’s tax bracket.
So far, FBR has notified people residing in Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, and Narowal. It has directed these individuals to clear their dues on an immediate basis.

In a similar measure, the authority has ordered its regional tax directorates to expedite their tax recovery drives. Moreover, special teams are being constituted in regional tax offices (RTOs) to track people who have not disclosed their financial assets.
