Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue has decided to pick 3,661 people for special tax audit who didn’t pay due taxes for declaring their illegal assets under the tax amnesty scheme announced by the previous government, reported a news source. Assets worth PKR 300 billion were declared under the scheme, against which taxes had not been paid.
According to sources from the FBR, the departments concerned have shared complete details of these people. The approval for comprehensive audit will be issued after sorting these details. Reportedly, the 3,661 people who declared their assets under the scheme will be inquired about their sources of income. Based on this information, circulation chain of money will be tracked; this will help the FBR reach people who sold these assets, find out if they are tax filers and also inquire about their assets matching their income.
