Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has requested the provincial and federal governing bodies to exempt the its officers and the field offices (Customs/Inland Revenue – IR) from the ongoing partial lockdown in the country amid the coronavirus disease spread.

The board asked to keep offices and staff operational in order to ensure maximum revenue collection in the last quarter (April-June 2020) for FY 2019-2020.

It has also issued an official circular in this regard to all federal and provincial authorities concerned on Monday. According to FBR, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has ensured a partial lockdown in the country to stop the viral spread which might prove to be a hindrance in the revenue collection.
Previously, it was reported that FBR is also mulling a downward revision in the tax collection target.
