Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has requested for a funds allocation in the Budget 2019-20 to facilitate the operations of its staff working in three benami zones, as well as the functioning of the appellate tribunal established to tackle benami properties – a news source reported.

The board also plans on getting additional vacancies approved for these new departments. These will include ten Grade-21 vacancies, three Grade-20 vacancies, four Grade-18 vacancies, and three Grade-17 vacancies. The vacancies for other staff members are also expected to be approved.
A summary has been drafted for this purpose, which will be finalised by April 15, 2019 and sent to the cabinet for approval.

The secretary revenue division will also communicate the names of the officials nominated for the adjudicating authority under the Benami Law.
People accused of possessing benami properties will have the right of appeal before the appellate tribunals – which are being established as well. Specifically, two benches of the tribunal will be developed.
