Islamabad: The Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) on Sunday announced its decision to register and monitor 12 business fields in 8 cities, a news source reported.

As per the publication, business fields like beauty parlours, hotels, transport, courier services, and restaurants are included in the said objective. Additionally, pharmacies, laboratories, medical practitioners, and private hospitals will be monitored through a digital medium. Also, the bureau will track and monitor massage centres, health clubs, and gymnasiums through an electronic system.

Initially, the FBR plans to include eight major cities of the country in the project, including Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.
Previously, the board had issued the draft of rules which will oblige service providers to record their transactions through Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFD). The FBR is planning to bring these businesses under the tax net. Additionally, the board has already rendered installation of point of sale (POS) systems mandatory for tier-1 retailers to integrate businesses under the sales tax.
