Lahore: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)’s helpline service recently reported on its receipt of more than 35,000 complaints during the month of December, a news source reported. According to the taxation agency, most of these queries were resolved through the FBR’s support system on a timely basis.

According to details, the board’s free phone helpline received 24,270 complaints. Of these, the majority of complaints were disposed without delay. Only a small fraction of the total submissions took a little longer to resolve due to the technical nature of the complaint. Similarly, the email service received a total of 11,447 complaints during the month. Of these, 7,126 were addressed immediately, while the remaining 4,321 were resolved after assistance from relevant wings.

As per the FBR notification, the helpline not only aims to educate the public, but also serves as a forum for the country’s citizens to forward their queries and seek resolution to most of their issues via phone, email or website.
Moreover, the taxation agency acknowledged the services of its helpline team that has been tasked with addressing issues such as ‘payment of Surcharge for ATL, guidance for newly launched Online Sales Tax Registration application, guidance for newly launched Biannual Income Tax Withholding Statement, guidance for ST Returns launched for the new financial year’.
