Islamabad: During a recent meeting with a delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI), officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) promised businesses that key taxation-related issues would be resolved promptly in order to promote economic growth — a news source reported on August 19.

The ICCI delegation was led by the chamber’s President Muhammad Ahmed Waheed and he was accompanied by other ICCI members, including former Senior Vice President Malik Sohail Hussain. The delegation held a meeting with FBR Member (Inland Revenue-Operations) Dr Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed in his office.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ahmed stated that the business community was playing a critical role in the economic development of the country and that the board would be making all efforts to facilitate them. He also praised the role played by the ICCI in helping businesses grow, and for acting as a bridge between the government and the business community.
