Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reported a 69 % increase in Point of Sale (POS)-verified invoices in February compared to January, news sources reported on March 1. As per the details, the citizens uploaded 39,000 invoices in February, significantly up from 27,000 in January 2022.

Reportedly, Tier-1 shops issued 38 million invoices in February, up from 37 million in the previous month. According to the statistics released by the FBR, more individuals are now confirming their invoices due to technological integration and awareness initiatives. It was reported that during February, a total of 249,000 verified consumers shopped at POS integrated businesses, a growth of about 60% from the 153,000 customers in January.
Furthermore, FBR has launched a monthly lucky draw on the 15th of each month to encourage more citizens to verify their invoices. The board will distribute PKR 53 million among 1,007 lucky draw winners each month. The board has allocated a total of PKR 106 million to 2014 lucky winners in two consecutive computerised polls held in the previous two months as of February.

Moreover, FBR has identified 1,421 big retailers of the Tier-1 category that have not integrated their operations with the Point of Sales (POS) system. The FBR has issued notices to these Tier-1 stores to get their businesses integrated until March 10, 2022, after which their stores will be sealed.
