Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is taking a strict stance on tax compliance, announcing plans to block SIM cards of 506,671 non-filers by May 15, according to a news source on May 5.

As per details, the FBR will convene an emergency meeting with mobile operators to ensure compliance with the deadline, warning of legal repercussions for non-compliance. Individuals affected by this order can verify their status on the FBR website and must comply with tax filing requirements.

SIM cards of non-filers will remain blocked until reinstated by the FBR or the relevant tax authority. Both the PTA and telecom operators are instructed to ensure immediate compliance with the FBR’s directive, with a compliance report due by May 15.
