Karachi: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has once again extended the deadline for filing income tax returns for the (fiscal year) FY2018-19; fixing September 30 as the last date for this purpose – a news source reported.

As per officials, the taxation authority would take legal action the defaulters following the deadline’s expiry.
Previously, the FBR had granted several extensions to the taxpayers for filing their tax returns for the FY2018-19. The last deadline had expired on August 9.
As per the set targets, the FBR is to increase the tax-filers count to four million. The tax experts believe that in order to do so, the board needs to extend the deadline again.

To facilitate this measure, the deadline to file income statements and returns by salaried individual and other taxpayers under the Finance Act 2019 has been extended to September 30.
