Islamabad: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has obtained data on hundreds of thousands of tax evaders, a news source reported. Initial preparations for the establishment of a proposed data warehouse have been completed by FBR.
Broadening of Tax Base (BTB), a subordinate organisation of FBR, has obtained the data on people who registered 1,300 cc cars but don’t pay taxes from motor vehicle registration authorities of all the big cities of the country. The largest number of tax evaders with registered vehicles are registered in Lahore.
Data has also been obtained from 3 big power supply companies of 1,003,949 commercial and industrial consumers. Out of these, data on 441,000 was provided by K-Electric, Faisalabad Electric Supply Company provided data on 334,202 connections, while Gujranwala Electric Supply Company provided the data of 282,000 consumers.
Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited provided data on 2,323 commercial and industrial consumers, while property registration authorities provided data on 484,000 people. Data on 400,000 people was provided by Lahore Development Authority (LDA), while the remaining 84,000 came from DHA, Baldia Karachi, and others.
