Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is looking to broaden the tax net and catch tax evaders through data integration, big data and data sciences, a news sources reported. This was brought up by FBR Chairman Mohammed Jehanzeb Khan during the inaugural session of the 1st Information and Communication Technology Workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised the importance of sharing data and finding out what data was available. He said that various departments use their own data sets for various purposes which can help if integrated. The session was organised by FBR in collaboration with the World Bank at a local hotel.
The purpose of the workshop was to bring together various public institutions together and work on improving collaboration and data-sharing to boost revenue.
Speaking to the participants, FBR chairman said that FBR has been working on preparing the ICT Strategy Document to address the revenue board’s development needs for the next three years, and a prospective plan on the IT and communication side for the next 10 years.
