Karachi: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has kicked-off the soft launch of Pakistan Single Window Programme (PSWP) to improve the country’s international trade, according to news sources. As per the PSWP Project Director Muhammad Imran Khan Mohmand, the official launch of the programme is expected in a couple of months.

The said development was launched in a recent online seminar organised by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). During the lecture, FPCCI President Nasir Hayat Maggo stated that the initiative will assist interconnect and share documents from 74 departments that deal with imports and exports. Mr Mohmand stated that the National Single Window system’s implementation by 2022 is also part of the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement.
Currently, the cost and time required for imports and exports are so high that trade with other nations is impeded. He went on to say that the initiative will connect the Web-based One Customs (WeBOC) with banking channels, Customs, and other institutions to reduce processing time and improve the efficiency of various departments.

He further stated that this measure is beneficial to the country since it would make doing business in Pakistan easier. Not only would it improve Pakistan’s image, but it will also attract direct foreign investment.
