Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has finalised its plan to identify top 100 tax evaders and issue them notices, stated a news report. This is to bring all those who evade taxes under the tax net.
The first meeting of this is scheduled to be held on 4th October under the chairmanship of the Finance Minister Asad Umar who has entrusted the FBR to identify potential tax evaders. After identification, the tax evaders will be brought under the tax net in two ways; i) Notices were issued to 1,000 people who had purchased properties in Dubai, ii) The FBR directed the field formations to identify top tax evaders immediately. Data has already been collected by the intelligence and investigation department of the Inland Revenue Services regarding transactions of properties, and purchase of luxury vehicles.
The FBR also identified several thousand people who have purchased properties in Pakistan that didn’t exist on the tax rolls.
