Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced extended working hours for large taxpayer offices (LTOs), medium taxpayer offices (MTOs), and regional taxpayer offices (RTOs) on December 30 (Friday) and December 31 (Saturday), news sources reported.

According to the FBR statement, all field formations are instructed to guarantee that all LTOs/MTOs/CTOs/RTOs stay open and observe extended working hours until 08:00 PM on Friday, December 30 (Friday), and 10:00 PM on Saturday, December 31 (Saturday).
The FBR has notified that only those officers who are involved in taxpayers’ facilitation, collection, and recovery of tax will observe extended working hours.

Furthermore, the FBR has ordered that the Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue (IR) establish liaison with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and authorised branches of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to ensure that tax collected by these branches is transferred to the respective SBP branches on the same date.

The FBR has taken this decision to ensure that taxpayers have enough time to make payments and complete their tax-related tasks on time. It is important to note that the last date for income tax filing for large corporations is December 31, while the deadline for the same for individuals expired on December 15.
