Islamabad: To reduce the volume of informal economy and to curb tax evasion, the federal government has decided to give the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) access to the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) database, a news source reported.
The purpose is to bring tax evaders under the tax net under Finance Act 2018. This is according to Section 216 of the Finance Act. It was for this purpose that CNIC numbers were turned into National Tax Numbers (NTN).
Under the law, FBR will be able to monitor NADRA database and catch tax evaders.
