As per the publication, FBR Spokesman Dr Hamid Ateeq revealed that the aforementioned directives were issued after exporters met with the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and other top officials. They explained their liquidity issues created by stuck refunds to the meeting.
This issue was also raised on Thursday in the meeting of National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue, held under chairmanship of Member National Assembly (MNA) Faiz Ullah. The meeting ordered FBR to expedite the disbursement of refund claims of traders and exporters.

FBR Inland Revenue (IR) Operations Member Seema Shakeel said that a committee has been constituted that includes exporters and senior FBR officers. The committee is tasked with the resolution of the technical issues surfacing in the submission of exporters’ claims in form ‘Annex-H’ via FBR’s Fully Automated Sales Tax E-Refund (FASTER) system.
She later admitted that some cases of refunds were pending because requirements weren’t properly met.
