Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has reportedly received the data of Pakistani nationals who have obtained residential permits in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through their property investments.
As per officials, this information was exchanged between the taxation authority and the Dubai Land Department (DLD) at the conclusion of a three-day meeting held in Dubai. FBR’s Secretary for International Taxes Sajida Kausar represented the Pakistani side.
The FBR has commenced with its data-scrutiny process, and plans to serve notices to the individuals concerned for tax-collection purpose. While the DLD has provided the details of investments, it is yet provide information with regard to the iqama (work permit) holders.

The UAE officials handed over the details to the Pakistani authorities in response to the FBR’s August 22 letter; in which the federal institution had sought information of all Pakistanis who had obtained work and residential permits through investments in the Gulf country.
Previously, the taxation authority had received data from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) about Pakistani nationals’ investments in the UAE. As a result, notices were issued and recoveries worth PKR 400 million were made.
