Lahore: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that it has gathered the taxpayers’ data from around the country in preparation of a potential action against the non-filers and urged the public to voluntarily file taxes for the Tax Year 2020 through a notification in a local daily.

The full message calls on public to file returns and pay taxes. The notification also announces that the deadline for filing taxes has been set for December 8 and informs the member of the public that they can find out details of their information available with FBR by visiting its official website and creating their accounts on it.

The details of the data gathered so far by FBR includes:
- 1 million filers who claim their income is below taxable levels but FBR has irrefutable evidence that this is not the case
- 3.5 million NTN Holders who are legally required to file taxes but do not do so
- 7.4 million individuals who are paying withholding tax but who do not file income tax returns
- More than 100,000 companies, nearly half of which are not filing taxes as legally required
- 105,000 STRN holders who are not filing tax returns as legally required
