The teams have been tasked with collecting professional, sales, and income taxes from industrialists and traders operating in the Gujranwala division by June 30, 2019 – which is the deadline for availing the tax amnesty scheme introduced by the government.
The authority has warned tax defaulters that it would seal their bank accounts after the deadline’s expiry. Moreover, it has decided to seek the assistance of local courts for collecting taxes in the future.
