The details further explain that a specialized committee has been established by the FBR, composed of eight members divided into three teams. The first team, led by Sher Salim Tariq, Dr Nasir Khan, and Aamir Amin Bhatti, will focus on designing and implementing a single portal sales tax return filing system for the telecom sector by October 31. In the second phase, under the leadership of Zainul Abidin Sahi, the committee will extend this system to encompass all sectors by May 31, 2024. This move comes in response to the government’s efforts to facilitate taxpayers, especially those who missed the initial September 30 deadline.

To accommodate these individuals, an extension until October 31 has been granted. This extension aims to provide taxpayers with ample time to fulfil their obligations, thereby avoiding potential penalties or legal consequences.
