Lahore: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has once again extended its deadline for filing income tax returns for Tax Year (TY) 2019, a news source reported. According to the latest announcement, the taxation agency has allowed the taxpayers to submit their returns by December 31.
As per the previous notification, FBR had set December 16 as the final date for filing income tax returns. But, the date has been stretched till the end of this month. This deadline is also applicable to the companies who have cleared 95% of their tax liabilities on or before September 30.

Despite the series of deadlines extensions (July 2, August 2, August 9, September 30, November 30 and December 16), the Pakistan Tax Advisers Associations (PTAA) and leading businesses had already requested the FBR to extend the deadline to the end of December.
According to details, FBR has received as many as 1.89 million returns so far for the tax year 2019, up 26% compared to 1.5 million returns filed during the corresponding period last year.
However, in the tax year 2018, FBR had received nearly 2.6 million returns owing to several extensions in the deadline.
