Karachi: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has notified another extension in the deadline for filing sales tax returns, a news source reported. According to a notification issued by the taxation authority on Monday, filers can now submit their returns till September 20.
Previously, the FBR had fixed September 18 as the deadline for filing sales tax returns for the month of August. As per officials, the federal institution has provided this extension to compensate for the submission delays experienced as a result of the Ashura-e-Muharram holidays.

In a similar attempt, the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has also extended the deadline (up to September 27) for filing sales tax on services returns for the month of August 2019. The SRB granted this extension to facilitate the taxpayers who experienced inconvenience in their submissions process following the launch of the SRB’s new software STRIVe (Sales Tax Real-Time Invoice Verification).

As per reports, this system was launched to facilitate the e-filing of the returns and simplify and expedite the whole process.
