Lahore: The latest deadline announced by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for filing income tax returns is set to expire in one week, a news source reported. Previously, the taxation authority had extended the deadline from September 30 to October 31.

As per details communicated by the FBR in its income tax filing deadline extension notification, both individuals and an association of persons can submit their returns/statements by October 31.
Similarly, companies which had paid 95% of their admitted tax liability – but did not submit the required income tax returns/statements – will also benefit from the new deadline extension facility.
According to sources, around 380,000 people had filed their income tax returns by September 30. As per officials, the board’s helpline had facilitated the taxpayers by providing quality and free service to the public.

According to reports, the board expects to increase the number of income tax filers through the provision of this extension facility.
