Islamabad: The deadline communicated by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for filing income tax returns and financial statements for Tax Year 2019 is set to expire on Monday (December 16), according to news sources.
In a bid to facilitate the taxpayers, the department previously allowed several extensions in the originally communicated deadline of July 02, 2019. These extensions are also aimed at achieving the FBR’s target under which it seeks to increase the number of active taxpayers to four million by the end of this year.

This latest deadline of December 16 is also applicable to those firms who have paid off 95% of their admitted tax liability before September 30 (or even on the day).
Despite the series of deadlines extensions (July 2, August 2, August 9, September 30, November 30 and December 16), the Pakistan Tax Advisers Associations (PTAA) and other leading tax associations have already requested the FBR to extend the deadline to December 31.

The associations maintain that despite their best efforts, the target hasn’t been yet met and an extension will allow more people to file their returns.
