Peshawar: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Pakistan’s Customs on Tuesday (November 9) established a high-level committee to resolve problems of transporters and traders, according to media reports.

As per the details, the first meeting of the joint committee was held at Zero Point at Torkham border, chaired by Collector Customs Tayyab Swati. Afghanistan government was invited for the meeting and Afghan Customs Head Hamidullah, and representatives Maulvi Mustafa, and Maulvi Obaidullah attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed ways to increase bilateral trade between both countries. During the meeting, suggestions were taken from the attendees for easy transportation of goods to and from Afghanistan. One of the suggestions was to increase the number of scanners installed in Torkham in order to clear more trucks while saving time.

Pakistan Border Traders Forum Chairman Syed Jawad Hussain Kazmi encouraged the attendees to resolve the issues of exporters and traders on priority to boost exports to Afghanistan.
