Islamabad: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Shabbar Zaidi has directed all Inland Revenue chief commissioners to ensure automated point-of-sale (PoS) system installations at retail outlets across the country latest by December 25, a news source reported.

According to an official statement issued by the FBR, the board’s chairman has directed all the field formations to issue relevant notices for implementation of the POS, and form dedicated teams to contact retailers to ensure their registration with the system. The teams will be authorised by the relevant commissioners for this purpose, while Zaidi went on to say that members of the information technology wing could also be contacted for additional support.

The last date for PoS registrations was December 1, which was extended to December 15. As part of the documentation drive, the FBR extended the deadline for registration of big retailers at luxurious shopping malls, retail chains and stores (that are at least 1,000 square feet in size) to raise their due taxes till Dec 15.
