Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed concerned departments to expedite the execution of key infrastructure projects, including the Coastal Highway and roads in the SITE industrial estate.
Chairing a high-level meeting at the CM House on Monday, the chief minister reviewed progress on several development schemes funded jointly by the federal and provincial governments. Officials from the planning & development, finance, and works & services departments briefed him on ongoing projects.
The 36-kilometre-long Coastal Highway, still in the groundwork phase, was highlighted as a priority. The CM noted public concern over delays during his recent visit to Thatta and stressed the project’s role in improving traffic flow and protecting coastal areas from sea intrusion.

In Karachi, a PKR 5 billion project is under way to reconstruct roads in the SITE industrial estate, with PKR 500 million already released. The CM directed that work be accelerated for completion within the upcoming fiscal year.
The meeting also covered other major schemes, including the PKR 18.8 billion Rohri–Guddu Barrage road project, reconstruction of 1,800 flood-damaged schools, and the dualisation of the Tando Allahyar–Tando Adam road. For each, the CM ordered immediate fund disbursement to ensure timely commencement.
Emphasising the importance of these developments for connectivity and public welfare, the CM instructed officials to remove bottlenecks and meet deadlines.
