Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has approved a significant expansion of the Faizabad Interchange to address ongoing traffic issues in the city. The plan, approved on Wednesday, includes the construction of two additional lanes and a new underpass at Faisal Chowk.

The approval came during a special meeting chaired by Naqvi, focused on improving traffic management and addressing long-term congestion problems. The minister emphasized the need for comprehensive solutions, directing that future infrastructure projects should anticipate potential traffic challenges to prevent recurring issues.
In addition to the expansion of the interchange, the plan also includes the development of a food street and a parking plaza, which will be designed according to best business standards. This is part of a broader initiative to enhance the area’s commercial and traffic flow.

Naqvi further instructed that new parking areas be established across the city, prioritizing the identification of locations for these spaces to improve convenience and reduce parking-related congestion.
The Faizabad Interchange project is expected to significantly ease traffic flow in one of Islamabad’s busiest areas, with construction set to begin soon.
